   David H. Sump has joined the firm as a partner and practices in our Norf olk office. He was previously with Tro utman Sanders.

David represents maritime clients in a wide variety of matters, including admiralty and maritime law, maritime pollution law and international trade.

Prior to entering private law practice, David served for fourteen years as a commissioned officer and law specialist in the United States Coast Guard, and served as a liaison to Capitol Hill for the Oil Pollution Act of 1990.

David has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in America in the area of Maritime and Admiralty Law, and has been acknowledged as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine. He was also named a Virginia Super Lawyer in the area of Transportation and Maritime Law.

He received his J.D. from the College of William and Mary, an M.B.A. from Cleveland State University and a B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
